I worked on a movie that had a lot of transitions using Pinnicale to see what other features I could include with this program. I was able to use some new ones this time and found that the program is getting easier to use. There are still some frustrating things about this program such as not being able to put a fade on the end of a clip, but I think it might be able to be accomplished if I were to purchase another download. This movie is not about service learning as it was difficult to find ones that I wanted to use in my final project, so I filmed my son’s band. To say the least it was a challenge as they actually played for over 10 minutes. The edit is now just over three minutes.
Introduction
Currently, I have two classes in the Ed Tech department. One involves interface design, and the other involves current technologies (podcasting, blogging and wikis). The psychology behind the theory of design resonates strongly because of my previous background in the creative arts industry. I’m finding the Gestalt principles apply across the board in many disciplines: proximity, similarity, closure, continuity, symmetry. And the use of color is something that needs to be used but needs to be used with maximum impact. I feel the same about technologies or glitz that can be added to websites. Just because the ability exists does not mean that it is prudent that you do it. The brain functioning behind the technology aspect is intriguing and needs to be addressed in all decisions when composing a site. Each time something is included, or excluded, a decision needs to be made if it is serving the user.
